Visualisation: what, why & how?

Have you ever had one of those moments where you’re just sick and tired of everything being such a struggle?  Everything you want seems so far out of reach, no matter how hard you try, you never seem to get the result?

You feel like you have so much to offer the world, if you could just stop banging your head against that bloody brick wall every day.

We try, we really try.  Every day we wake up with great expectations.  We’ve set our goals.  We are determined, resolute, even.  But when we climb into bed at night and we’re alone with our thoughts, there’s no hiding from the fact that it didn’t happen for us again today.

This is repeated every day.  We put a brave face on it for the world around us, but inside it rankers.  Everybody else seems to be doing all right, why can’t we?

We want it so bad.  We deserve it too, don’t we?  So why aren’t we getting what we want out of life, eh?

Is this you?  Have you been there?

Come on.

Admit it.

I did.

And it’s frustrating as hell.

So what’s a wannabe winner and achiever to do if they want to make getting what they want simple and easy, without creating even more stress and frustration?

Simple.

You stop messing around trying to manipulate your OUTER WORLD and you focus your attention where it belongs – on your INNER WORLD.

You’ve GOT to make friends with your subconscious!

But, what?

How?

Why?

Deep breath.

This whole post is designed to give you everything you need to create good feelings, engage the immense power of your subconscious and start getting what you want THE EASY WAY!

And all you have to do is STOP trying so hard all the time.

Getting what you want is ONLY ever a struggle when you are FRUSTRATED by not getting it. 

The harder you try, the more you get frustrated.  The more importance you place on this thing you want, the further you push it away from you.

This is the same for getting a romantic love partner, paying the bills or getting rich, building a business, ANYTHING.

I have struggled and been terminally frustrated by all of these at some point in the past.

Then I discovered how cool it was to focus on what I want in a happy, fun and relaxed way instead.

Manifesting what you want is the single most fun, satisfying thing you will ever do with your time.

 The Golden Rule

I have one overriding rule for everything I have ever done for myself as well as my clients.

It has to be super simple!

Simplicity is the key to everything I do.  Getting what I want is always done in the simplest way possible.  You too can simply get what you want if you choose.

I have streamlined the process for you:

  • Sit down and relax a few times a day and do nothing
  • Use your imagination to visualise yourself already having what you want
  • Focus on creating REALLY good feelings about what you want
  • When you’re not visualising, happily get on with your life
  • And most important of all – EVERY TIME you start to feel bad (by focusing on what you don’t want) retreat back into the wonderful realm of your imagination and experience the happy alternative of what you DO want!

But before we dive into the nitty gritty, let’s first talk about choosing what you want in the first place.

After all, there’s no worse feeling than going full steam ahead to nowhere is there?

Because let’s be real, that feeling sucks.  And that feeling right there is what’s pushing your desire far away in the opposite direction.

Fortunately, there’s an easy way to avoid this and make sure your desire runs towards you in a big way.

 Pick Something

It seems obvious, but for so many people, it’s being missed.  We want so many things to be different about our lives that we get stymied.  We get stuck in indecision.  We get frustrated and full of self-doubt.  We can be stuck for years never actually making a decision to go for that one thing that is so important to us.

We fool ourselves that we are TRYING.  What a joke that is!  If you are TRYING to achieve something at the moment, I can promise you that you will NEVER achieve it.

It took me twenty seven years to learn that lesson.  Over half a century banging my head against……what?

Myself, that’s what!

Kidding myself I was trying hard to succeed but failing to do the ONE THING that would GUARANTEE my success.

You have to DECIDE! Just pick something that you can focus your energies on and start creating (on the inside first).

Everything that has ever been achieved began with someone somewhere making a decision that it will be. No ifs, no buts. It just is.

If you try to give up smoking, that is all you will ever do. If you try to lose weight, that is all you will ever do. If you try to be successful, that is all you will ever do – try.

The fact is, the easiest way to stay stuck is to never DECIDE to go anywhere.

For God’s sake pick something. One thing. Big or small, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you choose something. Forget about how it will come about. Just pick something and pick it now.

Pick one thing and make the all-powerful decision that you shall have it – no matter what!   

 Making a decision that NOTHING WILL STOP YOU is the single most important thing you will ever do.

No matter what happens on the outside, make a commitment to yourself to continue building a new vision of having what you want on the inside.

Decide on something now and begin to create that thing in your imagination. Begin to engage the laser sharp focus of the all powerful subconscious mind.

If you want to prove to yourself that you can, indeed, manifest the good things in your life, pick something that you would like but isn’t of huge importance to you right now.

For instance, stay away from the bill that you are full of fear about and focus on having all of the bills paid.

Build and hold that one powerful vision of all the bills being paid, spare cash in your bank and in your pocket.  Keep returning to that one vision before you pay each bill, after you pay each bill, every time you catch yourself worrying about a bill, when you get money…

Just hold that vision, keep returning to it often and stick with it until it becomes your reality.

The Sure-fire way of moving forward

Now it starts to get really interesting.  Once you’ve decided on something, you have to stop focusing on the external and bring your attention inside.

This is where most people mess up.  This is where all the frustration is created.  Why people struggle.  Why they live mediocre lives. Why so many people are walking around without a smile on their face.

Nobody ever got anything they wanted without first building, and holding, a powerful vision of it in their imagination first.  EVER!

Use Your Imagination

Dangerously great visions are built in the imagination.  Powerful, life-changing visions are a whole body experience – they create feelings that rock!

Can you visualise?

Can you use your all-powerful imagination for the sole purpose of creation?

The simplest and most powerful way to communicate what we want to our powerful, all creating subconscious is with pictures. Images in the mind’s eye.

Imagination = images

 Visualisation therefore, is the deliberate use of vivid, memorable images to create anything easily, simply, and very often, extremely quickly.

But first, and most importantly, it creates the feelings associated with what you want.  Another way of saying this is that it creates the feelings you think you will feel once you have got what you want.

That’s what is so great about constantly returning to (and building) your vision.  You create the feelings you want now!

That’s all any of us want anyway isn’t it?  You can feel wonderful as you choose simply by returning to your imagination as often as you need to.  You don’t need drink, drugs or adrenaline rushes – just your own imagination and a quiet minute or two.

As children we lived in our imaginations

When we were children we were always lost in our imagination.  Then the world pulled us into its reality.  Eventually we got lost in that reality.

The trouble is that we are confused about our available realities.  We are always dissuading our children from living in their imagination because it ‘it isn’t reality’.

But their reality is actually a better reality than most adults live each day.

The secret to a happy life is to create what we want first in our imagination.  Then THAT reality has the power to effect the reality we all think we have to live in.

The problem is that we get lost in life.  We forget what we want, who we want to be, and how we want to live.

We forget we have a choice.  We forget we can choose joy, happiness, prosperity and fun!

Reconnect with our inner reality

 With visualisation there is no need to push against the tide, no need to struggle, and most importantly, no need to know how we are going to achieve anything.

I can promise you this. The more you let go of the how’s and trust that a way will be found, and the more you begin engaging the power of your subconscious, the quicker and more easily your dream will be created.

If you don’t take charge of creating a positive world for yourself, by default, you create a negative world.   

Whatever is crappy about your life must be ignored. I know it is hard.  Tell me about it!

I struggled for twenty seven years AFTER I discovered there was a difference between a positive and negative attitude.

BUT, and this is the thing, EVERY TIME we think a thought we are creating our life.  That means we have to catch ourselves when we are getting lost in negativity.  We need to notice it and STOP IT!  We need to practise thinking and feeling positive thoughts and feelings at every opportunity.

Practising ritual visualisation a few times a day is the easiest way to create the habit of positivity – and that’s even before the subconscious starts giving you its guidance!!!

 Get out of your own way. Stop fighting yourself.  Instead of struggling on the outside, put all of your efforts into creating  positive images on the inside.

You are the creator of your own existence!

No matter what is happening around you or to you, once you make that transition in your own imagination, you are free. You can be anything. You can do anything. You can have anything.

At the very least your valuable visualisation time is a much needed break from the stresses of life.  But actually it is SO much more:

  • It is a re-focusing on what you want.
  • It is proving to your subconscious what you want so that it can get on with the creative process.
  • It is reminding yourself what is important to you.
  • It is practising having what you want so that you can readily receive it into your existence.
  • It is practising feeling really good (which is all we really want anyway, isn’t it?)
  • It is you taking charge – of how you feel, who you are, and the shape of your life!

Whilst you are living in your imagination, these things are as real as anything outside of you to your subconscious. When you use your imagination to the extent that you really feel what you want, the subconscious cannot tell that it is only in the imagination.

It is as real as real life is real.

 It is real because you feel it and the only thing that ever matters is how you feel.

Once you feel it, you own it. It is yours. It belongs to you. Nobody can take it away. The more you feel it, the closer you are to creating it in reality.

So how often should you visualise?

As often as you need to in order to create the feeling of having what you want already.

As often as it takes. For as long as it takes. Just keep building your vision. The more often you create the feelings of what you want, the quicker your reality will match your imagination.

So …

GUIDANCE FOR EFFECTIVE VISUALISATION

The more relaxed you are, the more effective visualisation will be.

A hypnotherapist relaxes you in order for your (gate keeper) conscious mind to get distracted and the subconscious to come to the surface. In this way, the subconscious, which believes anything it is told, takes on board the images and suggestions, and automatically believes them to be true.

When you get back into a wide awake state again, your subconscious returns to the depth of your being and takes the newly introduced feelings with it. These positive feelings, in turn, become a part of your very existence.

Your subconscious then sets about producing the behaviors and circumstances that match the new feelings. You become what you are visualising yourself to be because you have done enough with your visualisations to make the deeper, powerful, inner you believe that your vision is true.

And all you had to do was imagine it was so!

You have to keep building the image until your new positive image is bigger and better than your current negative one. That is how you build a powerful, positive image. Practise. Persistence. Determination.

This may sound hard, but it’s a lot easier than struggling to make stuff happen outside of yourself.

So do it! You will love yourself for it.

Within your own imagination, you are only limited by that imagination.

You haven’t lost that extra weight yet because you can’t get an image of your desired result. You are not rich yet because you can’t see it in your imagination. You keep “trying” but failing to achieve things because you have not given your subconscious the proper instructions to create it for you.

Humans have accomplished many, many amazing things over the centuries. We have spent our entire existence overcoming, adapting, improvising, and creating. There are those of us who have healed great emotional pain. Others who have healed physical health problems.

We have traveled to the moon and back. We will go to Mars. We will discover free energy that doesn’t deplete the planet. All it takes—all anything takes—is one person to believe it is possible and have the courage to begin moving towards it. All it takes is to build a powerful enough vision of what you want before you do anything else.

Anything you want for yourself is limited only by your own thinking. Let your imagination run wild. Go crazy. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Go for it in your own head. You don’t even have to tell anyone….

…Until they see the smile of satisfaction begin to form on your face, that is.

Until they see the bounce in your step. Until they notice the changes taking place in you; the ones that are impossible to miss.

Then you can tell them, “Yes, I have an imagination, and it’s amazing.”

It is imperative that you imagine you already having what you want.  Not getting it.  HAVING it!

Not losing the weight – living your new and exciting life without it.  Not winning a load of money – living a fun and exciting life having the money already in the bank, in your pocket, circulating it.  Not being healed – but living a healthy, fun and exciting life of joy, movement, flexibility.

Never underestimate the power of a great guided visualisation.  They are the easiest and simplest way to realign yourself with your goals, positive feelings and all those good thoughts that make you feel so great.

They are cheaper than therapy and more effective than medication.  They work wonders for all those who want to get – and stay positive!

Why do some people struggle with visualising, or give up completely?

OK, you know I create unique guided visualisation recordings.  I can’t speak for anyone else’s recordings, but mine WORK!  They are incredibly powerful.  You can read why here.

Whether you listen regularly and frequently to one of my recordings, or visualise/meditate yourself, you are, in effect, filling yourself with positive energy.

So here’s the thing, you can’t put the good stuff in without the bad stuff getting pushed out.

Positive energy and negative energy are incompatible That means any deeply held resistance you have regarding your goals will begin to come to the surface where you become aware of them.

This will happen if you visualise effectively yourself, meditate, or listen to a recording.

The problem is that this stuff  we bury in our subconscious – we don’t want to know it’s there!!! That’s why we pushed it down in the first place.

But down there in our subconscious it becomes our resistance to the good things in life.

It becomes our insecurity in a relationship, our fear of not having/being enough, it is the part of us that thinks we deserve all the shit that keeps happening to us.

And when that energy starts to push at the inside of us trying to get out…

…it feels REALLY, REALLY uncomfortable.

And it’s sneaky as hell.

So when you start feeling this stuff, at first you don’t even realise you are feeling it.  Before you even recognise it for what it is – A HEALING – that part of your subconscious holding on to that negativity and believes you WANT it to be a part of you starts feeding you excuses.

You start to kid yourself that visualisation doesn’t work.  Or the recording is no good.  Or you get bored doing it.  Or there is something more interesting to do.

The excuses are endless and very powerfully draw you away from the path you want to choose.  Old habits kick in.

Your discipline goes out the window.

The Old You Holds You!

I’ve experienced this so many times.  Whenever I am visualising something important but a far cry from where I am, I get very uncomfortable.

But we must push through to the other side.

That discomfort you feel when you are imagining having what you want is a sign that you are on the right track.

You MUST push through the healing!

You must PROVE IT to your subconscious that this is what you want!

You MUST continue to visualise as often as you need to throughout your day and continue doing it until your vision comes easily and quickly to you any time you close your eyes.

Because it won’t happen in ‘real life’ until you can conjure it at will in your imagination.

Visualisation works!

But you have to do it to make it work.

The recordings don’t work unless you listen to them.  Try these for FREE and give yourself a month to transform how you feel about your goal!

Your subconscious doesn’t know what you want it to create for you if you don’t tell it a few times every day what that is. 

Then, and only then, does it get to work for you.

You have to prove it to your subconscious.  This means you will have to push through the healing to the other side.

Beyond resistance.

Beyond self-doubt.

Beyond confusion.

Beyond frustration.

Beyond worry.

Beyond Stress.

Through it all until when you think of the thing you want all you feel is joy, excitement and glorious anticipation.

Stay tuned in to what you want.  Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked.  Stay the course.

And whenever you feel out of alignment with your chosen goal – that is just a message from your subconscious telling you to retreat to your imagination and visualise what you want again.

Your subconscious is asking you to show it what you want!

Get the picture, see yourself having it NOW.  Create those all important feelings.

Once your subconscious has that definite, often repeated, clear and precise instructions it can bring all of that vast intelligence to bear and begin guiding you with serendipity, hunches, coincidences, assurance, confidence – guidance from the intelligence that creates worlds!!!

All you have to do is tell it what you want!

You don’t need to complicate it.  Visualisation is simply the art of reminding yourself of what you want.

While you are thinking about that you can’t be thinking about what you don’t want.

What you focus on (think about) creates your feelings.

Your feelings create your reality.

Visualisation creates good feelings so that you can have a good reality.

Simple!
